LaBorde to compete in WFD at the NAMM Show 2006

Drumskillz.com's own Scott LaBorde is excited about the upcoming WFD competition to be held at the NAMM Winter Show 2006 in Anaheim, CA. Scott has been busy with his DrumometerTM training hard as he will be going head to head with the best to determine who is the World's Fastest Drummer. Scott is the creator of all of the lessons on DrumSkillz.com, many of which are valuable in developing speed, which is the goal of this competition.

The WFD, or World's Fastest Drummer, competition is the brain child of co-founders Boo McAfee and Craig Allen, inventors of the DrumometerTM. It was created as a means to market their new device which accurately measures the number of strokes in a specified time frame, with one minute being the basis of the competition. In 2002 they began holding annual competitions at the NAMM show and the rest as they say is history. The competition is split into two major categories which are Battle of the HandsTM and Battle of the FeetTM which compete based on the score of hand and foot speed respectively. The current hands record, held by Mike Mangini, is 1247 while the feet record held by, Tim Waterson, is 1030.

NAMM is the trade association charged with the representation of the global music products industry. Founded in 1901, as a small group of 52 members, NAMM has successful grown to nearly 9,000 music product retailers and manufactures from 85 different countries. We have NAMM and their members to thank for the plethera of quality music products we utilize to enhance our artistic expression through music. The NAMM show is a chance for these members to join forces with some of today's top recording artists to showcase their newest products and services for other industry members so that ultimately they can end up in the hands of eagerly awaiting musicians. The NAMM Winter Show 2006 is scheduled for January 19 - 22, 2006 and will be held at the Anaheim Convention Center in California.
